Dr. Ronald Hutton
During the Hampton University Reunion/Commencement Alumni Awards Banquet
May 8, 2010, Dr. Ronald Hutton received the Outstanding Alumnus-at-Large Award
in front of more than 730 alumni who were in attendance for the exciting evening.
“I am humbled, honored and excited about receiving the award,” stated
Hutton. “As a graduate of the Class of 1971, this
award is extremely special because we as a class have made a special effort
to make Hampton proud of our accomplishments.” He
continued, “Coming from a small town, for me to attend Hampton was a
great opportunity. My experience has been great all the way around.”
Hutton earned the Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Hampton Institute
in 1971. In 1975, he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Howard
University. He served in the U.S. Dental Corps from 1975-1978 and in the U.S.
Army Reserves from 1978-2003 retiring after 25 years as a colonel. He has
been a partner and dentist at Winston-Salem Dental Care in Winston-Salem,
N.C. for 32 years. Hutton has received professional honors from the American
College of Dentists and the Academy of General Dentistry. In addition
to the commitment he makes to his professional activities and meeting the
demands of a successful dental practice, Hutton devotes untiring energy and
time to his community. He serves on the Board of Directors of Boy Scouts of
America, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Forsyth County and Bald Head Island Conservancy.
Hutton also serves as a Sedation Evaluator for the North Carolina State Board
of Dental Examiners and on the Zoning Board of Adjustments for the Town of
Lewisville, N.C. Hutton is an active member of the Greensboro Chapter of the
National Hampton Alumni Association.
