Director's Welcome

Greetings Alumni, Family, & Friends of Hampton:

It is an honor to introduce myself to you as the Hampton University Director of Alumni Affairs. I am humbled to have the privilege to lead this department into its next phase at Hampton University. There is no doubt that this is an exciting time for the Office of Alumni Affairs as we begin a new chapter in our story.

I've been serving as Director since June 13, 2016. In my role, it will be my pleasure to work with each of you and our dedicated staff to increase the number of people we serve, grow the number of volunteers who help support the Hampton vision, and to raise the funds and awareness necessary to ensure a boundless future for our great University.

In all things, we are guided by our motto, 'A Standard of Excellence.' As a two-time graduate of Hampton University, and one of more than 30,000 alumni, I understand the traditions, pride and love behind the Hampton legacy and the forethought our ancestors worked so hard to achieve when this great institution was founded in 1868. As Director, I plan to continue strengthening the bond between the University and the alumni, create programs that match the interests and needs of alumni, increase giving and participation, challenge our abilities in achieving no small dreams, and assist in developing a culture that teaches younger alumni to give back.

The Hampton University Office of Alumni Affairs will continue to refine its alumni services and events, in an effort to tailor them to different affinity groups within our broad alumni base. Our team has spent a great deal of the 2016 fiscal year working on our internal processes and focus areas. Our commitment has been to focus on how we can best promote these networks to bring alumni closer together, and allow alumni to leverage the inherent value of our Hampton connections whether for personal, educational, or professional aims. As a result, our Alumni Affairs team will be more focused on achieving specific and actionable goals and I am very excited to see the outcome and impact of this effort.

As we continue to make positive strides with our alumni development and outreach efforts, I want you to know that I am strongly committed to the mission and vision of the University and look forward to your involvement along this journey. On behalf of the Office of Alumni Affairs, thank you for your sustained support of our alma mater and for your unwavering commitment of service to future Hamptonians. I hope to meet each of you soon, and learn more about each of you. Until then, Hampton Hugs from our 'Home by the Sea.'

In the Hampton Spirit,

Ms. Brint M. Martin, M.B.A.
